  • Complexity: medium

Ingredients

  • 1kg (2.2 lbs) flour for all purpose
  • 1 sachet instant yeast
  • 150 g. (5.29 ozs) sugar
  • 1 cup of tea, hot milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • a little anise powder
  • (about) 2 cups of tea warm water
  • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil
  • For decorating

  • painted red hard-boiled eggs
  • sesame seeds

Directions

  1. Prepare the dough the night before by dissolving the yeast in a little lukewarm water and mixing it with 1 ½ cups of flour. Leave the mixture covered.

  2. Sift the flour and place it in a bowl. Make a puddle in the middle and add all the ingredients, together with the yeast mixture. Knead until the dough becomes soft and fluffy and doesn't stick to our hands.

  3. Take small pieces of dough and form them in the shape of a thick cord. Put a red egg in the center and fold the two ends of the cord so as to take the shape you see in the photo. Sprinkle with some sesame seeds and let the dough rise. Bake at 200° C (392° F) for about 20' minutes.
