Six ways to enjoy chestnuts
Roasted chestnuts are a classic winter flavour - but they are also a nutritional treasure. Here are some ways to enjoy them.
Raw or roasted: in their simlest form, chestnuts are a healthy snack. They can be eaten raw, baked in the oven, or roasted over a fire.
Boiled: another classic way to enjoy chestnuts, but they can be used in different ways once boiled...
Pureed: once boiled, place in a food processor and blend. A very easy breakfast alternative is to use chestnut puree on toast. They also go well with jam.
As a bread substitute: for a gluten-free option, you cna buy chestnut flour and use it in any recipe that calls for flour.
In salads: Add chestnuts, raw or baked, to your salad. They can also be added to soups and risottos.
