Ingredients

  • ground beef: 600-700 g
  • onion: 1, finely chopped
  • garlic: 2 cloves, finely chopped
  • mint or parsley: ½ cup, finely chopped
  • bread, crust removed: 2 slices
  • egg: 1
  • milk: ¼ cup
  • olive oil: ½ teacup plus extra for frying
  • salt, pepper
  • 4 tbs ouzo
  • flour: little

Directions

  1. Soak the slices of bread into the milk and thoroughly squeeze out excess liquid. In a bowl, combine the ground meat with the onion, the garlic, the bread, the egg, the ouzo, the mint or parsley, the salt and pepper and half the olive oil.

  2. Knead the mixture and roll into small meatballs or flatten into patties. Coat in flour. Fry in hot olive oil until golden brown on all sides and drain on a paper towel. Serve piping hot or cold.
